Sgt Lindelani Dladla has come a long way from being a novice media spokesperson for the Zonkizizwe SAPS to assuming a top position of female crime detective in the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offence Unit at the Ramokonopi SAPS in Katlehong.

The unit is mostly made up of a team of a female detective who is gaining a reputation of being committed officers following a string of successful arrests. They have also secured the highest number of convictions against suspects.

Her recent successes include putting behind bars three high-profile criminals for long-term jail sentences:

• 23-year-old Jabulani Mashau to 18 years for statutory rape offence.

• 26-year-old Siyada Maqalana to 15 years for rape of an elderly woman.

• 64-year-old Amos Mkhwanazi sentenced to life for the rape of a minor

In all the three cases, Dladla conducted the investigation, traced and arrested the suspects and successfully secured long-term jail sentences with her evidence in court.
