Chef Sbu creates new recipes with a maize meal brand
The chef said he enjoys experimenting and trying new things when it comes to putting the perfect dish together.
Iwisa No1 has partnered with YoTV resident chef Sibusiso Makhubo (23) and renowned chefs to celebrate being a family favourite maize brand for over 60 years.
Sibusiso was tasked recently to create delicious recipes using the maize meal. He described himself as ambitious and ready to change the world through great-tasting food, a medium that’s universally loved by all. Sibusiso added the partnership with Iwisa means the world to him.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skill and knowledge. This creates endless possibilities.”
The chef said he enjoys experimenting and trying new things when it comes to putting the perfect dish together.
“We will be taking old recipes and pushing the boundaries while involving the public to try out the new recipes with us.”
The SkaftinboyzWorldwide entrepreneur explained how he wanted to be a world-class bartender and own a bar before he discovered cooking.

“When I made the decision to take up home economics in high school, I started learning how to bake. My first attempt wasn’t the greatest and I failed, but it tasted delicious.” In that moment, he said food became his first love.
He also shared some highlights of his cooking career.
“There are so many. During my first year of culinary school I started working at one of the top 10 restaurants in the country – DW Eleven 13. Other highlights include landing a job on YoTV’s Big Breakfast show, working with Iwisa, starting my own business, cooking with Neil Anthony and having chef Lentswe Bhengu provide me with the opportunity to perform my first live demo and allow me to collaborate with Rhodes Quality.”
The chef has been working with well-known chefs such as Zola Nene, Noel Mokgohloa, Luyanda Mafanya, Mingi Mokoena, Ncedo Gcanga, Jetrou Kgapane, Patience Nyongane and Entse Masenya.
