Man killed by lightning in Elandsfontein

A man was struck and killed by lightning on a farm in Elandsfontein on October 5.

Russel Meiring communications officer of ER24 said paramedics arrived on the scene at 4.55 pm to find the man, believed to be in his 30s, lying motionless in the field and surrounded by a number of his colleagues.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had shown no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
