Suspect arrested for drug possession and dealing

On July 4 members of Elsburg SAPS Task Team conducted stop-and-search operations in the hot spots of Elsburg CBD. “Sgt Noel Hobjane and Thokozane Mpanza were cleaning up known hot spots on the streets, especially those who stand or sit on the pavements and corners selling drugs and dagga,” said Elsburg spokesperson Daphney Phooko.

On July 4 members of Elsburg SAPS Task Team conducted stop-and-search operations in the hot spots of Elsburg CBD.

“Sgt Noel Hobjane and Thokozane Mpanza were cleaning up known hot spots on the streets, especially those who stand or sit on the pavements and corners selling drugs and dagga,” said Elsburg spokesperson Daphney Phooko.

She said while the police were conducting their patrol, they noticed a suspect sitting on the pavement.

“They requested to search him and only cash was found in his pockets. When they continued to search where he was sitting, they found a big black plastic bag containing 30 packets of dagga in weights of 113.59g,” said Phooko.

The male was arrested and detained at Elsburg SAPS. He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of possession of and dealing in dagga.
