WATCH: Vosloorus residents welcome food parcel donation

Help arrived while they were hopeless.

The Zalisidinga African Traditional Council (ZATC) provincial leader, principal chief Fanie, along with Gift of the Givers Foundation (GGF) and Mercedes SA handed over food parcels to Vosloorus residents on August 4.

They donated 400 food parcels at Mailula Section and proceeded to Vosloorus Stadium before concluding at Extension 28.

Fanie said as the Chief of ZATC in the province, he must help people in communities.

“We decided to seek help from Gift of the Givers, especially because the situation had worsened after the looting of businesses,” said Fanie.

He said even if they cannot help the whole township they were pleased to support some people.

“My job is to work with the community and resolve issues. I am not only looking at food challenges, we work to develop, monitor and keep peace in the community so we work hand in hand with the police,” said Fanie.

One of the beneficiaries, Rebecca Mashinini from Vosloorus, thanked Fanie, the GGF and everyone who contributed towards assisting the community.

“We are very happy, most of the people in the community are unemployed, and people are hungry and poor,” said Mashinini
