Sozo Foundation needs donations for child-headed families
The foundation was established by Ngcongwane in March 2017 and registered with the Department of Social Development.
Sozo Foundation calls for the community to assist it with donations of pre-loved clothes and perishable foods for child-headed homes and needy families in Katlehong and Palm Ridge.
The foundation is collecting donations. It intends to hand over early Christmas gifts to affected families on December 1.
According to the MD of Sozo Foundation, Ephraim Ngcongwane, it identified the families when it conducted door-to-door campaigns.
He explained they mostly find child-headed families without any food or clothes to wear.
“Children often come to our office to ask for any form of donations. We have since decided to start helping them with basics and later introduce them to our skills development programmes because they are affected by unemployment and they do not have future plans,” said Ngcongwane.
He said they believe reaching out to them before drug dealers do will assist them in providing sustainable solutions to their situations.
“We have recently established a partnership with recruitment agencies to assist youth in obtaining employment,” he said.
The foundation was established by Ngcongwane in March 2017 and is registered with the Department of Social Development.
It is located in the municipal parks department, serving remote areas of Katlehong and Palm Ridge.
