Germiston Taxi Association donates sanitary pads and toiletries to school
Addressing the issue of unemployment in the community, Mkhize highlighted the GGTA’s dedication to helping underprivileged students.
The Greater Germiston Taxi Association (GGTA) made a significant contribution to the community by donating sanitary towels and toiletries to Dukathole Primary School on August 14.
The initiative, supported by the GGTA Women’s League, aimed to assist female and male learners at the school.
Sakile Mkhize, the GGTA public relations officer, mentioned the school’s gratitude for the donations, noting its critical importance.
“We have begun working directly with schools to assist underprivileged students. Our next effort will be to support an elderly home we have identified with blankets and other items,” Mkhize said.

He emphasised the association’s commitment to give back to the community that has consistently supported them.
“The school donation marks the first of many forthcoming projects. We have also collaborated with Ekurhuleni Primary School.
“Next year, we will resume our efforts by providing school uniforms and shoes, as well as working directly with the elderly.
“We want to ensure that we care for our country while also protecting and supporting the elderly, who carry wisdom,” Mkhize added.
Addressing the issue of unemployment in the community, Mkhize highlighted the GGTA’s dedication to helping underprivileged students.
“We cannot see a child attending school without a decent uniform and turn a blind eye.

“As an organisation, we are doing everything we can to close that gap. The principal was overjoyed and welcomed us and the donation with open arms.”
Mkhize also urged the community to collaborate with taxi drivers to minimize the negative impact on student transportation.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by scholar transport systems and made it clear that inappropriate behaviour by drivers would not be tolerated.
“We will take swift action against anyone who abuses their power and exploits young girls.
“We recommend all parents use registered transportation so that if any issues arise, the organisation can intervene. Each student transport must have a sticker from the association with which they affiliated,” he advised.
Mkhize further stressed that ensuring a child’s well-being requires a collaborative effort from parents, teachers, and community members.
