EMPD arrests two men for tampering with Germiston City Hall infrastructure

The EMPD Intervention Unit members intercepted two male suspects for tampering with essential infrastructure.

The suspects were arrested in the Germiston area.

Night shift members from the unit received a complaint about two male suspects, who were spotted on the cameras, jumping into the Germiston City hall building.

Officers swiftly responded and upon arrival they spotted two males outside the building, carrying bags.

“They were approached and a search was conducted. Found in their possession were electrical wires and electric transformers.

Cables were found in the suspects’ possession.

“The duo was detained at Germiston Police Station, facing charges of tampering with essential infrastructure.

They are expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The EMPD serve a strong warning to lawbreakers that they will not hesitate to institute criminal proceeding against anyone found tampering with or damaging the City of Ekurhuleni’s essential infrastructure, and will work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
