Missing Kempton Park runner: Family heads to Germiston for body identification (video)
A specialised multidisciplinary unit is analysing patterns after the bodies of women were discovered across Kempton Park between July and September.
The SAPS is accompanying the family of missing runner Elizabeth Moselakgomo to the Germiston Forensic Pathology Service for a formal identification process today, September 14.

This follows the discovery of a woman’s body dressed in sports clothing behind a hotel near York Street in Rhodesfield on Saturday, September 12.
Family spokesperson Dawn Gounden of Renegade Search and Rescue confirmed the family is aware of the situation and urged the public to avoid sharing unverified rumours. At the same time, authorities are completing the official identification process.

Task team established
Acting Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana confirmed that law enforcement is investigating the deaths of women whose bodies were discovered across the Kempton Park area between July and September.
“The first victim, a 37-year-old woman, was found restrained near the R21 on July 15. Police arrested a suspect on July 17. That suspect remains in custody. A second partially clothed 32-year-old woman was found near the R21 on August 24, followed by a severely decomposed body of an unidentified woman on September 10, and the fourth body discovered on September 12 in Rhodesfield,” said Kekana.
“In response to these discoveries, we have mobilised a specialised multidisciplinary task team that includes the Investigative Psychology Unit, Provincial Tracking Team, and K9 Search and Rescue. Experts are actively analysing behavioural patterns, timelines, and dockets to determine whether these crimes are connected.”
Kekana cautioned against premature speculation regarding a single suspect.
Public warnings issued
“Alongside the murder inquiries, SAPS is issuing a dual warning to residents. We advise women and runners to exercise in groups and remain in well-lit areas.
“Additionally, Kempton Park police alerted the public to approximately 10 reported cases where individuals met contacts through online dating platforms, were lured to isolated spots, and were subsequently robbed or sexually assaulted,” said Kekana.
