Emergency power outage planned for Germiston areas on Friday

The City of Ekurhuleni has announced a planned emergency electricity outage on Friday to allow for urgent MV cable repairs in parts of Germiston.

The City of Ekurhuleni has advised residents and businesses in parts of Germiston of a planned emergency power outage scheduled for Friday, January 23.

According to the City, the outage is necessary to carry out urgent medium-voltage (MV) cable repairs aimed at stabilising the local electricity network and preventing unplanned disruptions.

The outage will take place from 08:30 to 17:30 and is expected to affect the following areas: Elspark, parts of Elsburg, Cruywagen Park, Graceland, Egoli Village and Klippoortjie Agricultural Holdings.

Residents are urged to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period and to switch off appliances to prevent damage when power is restored.

The City has apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to affected customers to plan accordingly while the essential maintenance work is carried out.
