Palm Ridge Senior Citizens Club celebrate Heritage Day

The Palm Ridge Senior Citizens Club celebrated Heritage Day by sharing various home-cooked traditional foods.

South Africans observe Heritage Month every September, and Heritage Day is celebrated on September 24 by embracing the nation’s diverse cultural traditions, communities and heritage.

Heritage Day was declared a public holiday in 1996 to let South Africans display their traditional colours and teach each other about their roots and cultures.

These photographs were taken at the Heritage Month event hosted by the Palm Ridge Library on September 27 at Palm Ridge, Katlehong.

They celebrated with Palm Ridge Senior Citizens Club members, who taught each other about their traditional foods, dances, clothes, customs and principles.
