Primrose Youth Desk introduces new committee members
Speaking of the Youth Desk, he said that this year the members were able to significantly alter and improve the community it serves.
Primrose Youth Desk has recently voted in a new structural committee that will oversee the organisational activities for the next five years.
Adil Bingle, the desk chairperson from Wychwood, sat down with GCN to talk about his goals for the youth group.
He said he wants to provide stability within the organisation and a platform where young people can flourish.

Bingle is a passionate learner who is a fourth-year zoology student at UNISA.
He believes the key to unlocking young people’s ability to advance this country is education. He teaches physical and life sciences in his free time to high school learners.
Joining Bingle in leadership positions are Ntandokazi Njokwana (vice-chairperson), Rorisang Kalekale (secretary), Tshidiso Pitsoane (vice-secretary), and Obedience Mkhabela, who serves as the public relations officer (PRO).

Speaking of the youth desk, he said the members this year could significantly alter and improve the community it serves.
“First, more young people are participating in and cooperating inside the forum. We have accomplished whatever tasks are needed to be a unit,” said Bingle.
“We have made memories and laughed more together. We have been able to listen to the community and satisfy their needs halfway through our weekly awareness events.
We had one-on-one conversations with residents on issues like gender-based violence, domestic violence, contact crime, and house burglary, and we visited schools and addressed learners.

Bingle joined the youth desk in 2017 and became a secretary. Seeing the changes now within the desk he said, “When it comes to working at schools, it is impressive to witness the CPF, crime wardens, social workers and Department of Education officials coming together.
“The safety of the students is a top consideration, and when everyone is there, a lot gets accomplished.

I think the community has taken note of us and is supporting us. What’s crazy is that more young people are starting to participate and inquire about joining.
Bingle stated his goal for the youth desk would be to lead a session where young guys are taught values and receive coaching in life skills.
“We should include male social workers in the team because of their training. Boys with principles will have a great future.
“Let us organise sporting events that keep our boys away from crime and drugs. Let us impart life skills and discipline to them. Creating a forum where we discuss issues facing boys and get solutions would be wonderful,” said Bingle.
