Residents at Kruinhof Retirement Village get a delicious treat

“They lack the funds to purchase a treat as Spur did. The elders are going to be talking about this for a very long time,” said Spassov.

Commemorating its 25th anniversary, Ottawa Creek Spur hosted a luncheon for the elderly at the Kruinhof Retirement Village.

Klopperpark community organisation Dare-To-Care soup kitchen organised the event.

Vanessa Spassov, Dare-To-Care soup kitchen founder, said since adopting the retirement village they have been having fun.

“The pensioners receive groceries from the Dare-To-Care soup kitchen whenever they become available during the week. We prepare a fresh supper for them once a month.

“When Tokkie Diamond learned that Spur was celebrating its 25th birthday, she collaborated with them to provide meals for the elderly as part of the celebration,” said Spassov.

“As soon as she shared the concept with me, my team got to work. I am still receiving WhatsApp messages praising the event for being a great surprise, so I guess it was a big success,” said Spassov.

Mutsa Chiwara, Stephan Lee and Tokkie Diamond join in the fun of Ottawa Creek Spur’s 25th birthday celebrations.
