Police remove illegal firearms from the hands of criminals

Members of the Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, EMPD Tracing Unit and SWAT teams conducted a disruptive operation in Vosloorus Hostel after they received a tip-off regarding a hit man who is allegedly operating in Gauteng and KZN areas.

Upon the arrival at the hostel, officers found an African male inside the room with other hostel inmates. The law enforcement officers introduced themselves, stating the reason for their visit and began searching the room and the occupants.

A firearm was found in the possession of a man who was said to be hiding at the said address. The suspect was linked to a murder case dating back to October 2023 that involved a murder.

Reiger Park
SAPS members of the Crime Prevention Unit launched an intelligence-driven operation after they received information about a male suspect who possessed a firearm at Honeysuckle Street in Reiger Park.

The suspect was searched and found in possession of a revolver firearm, He was arrested and taken to Reiger Park SAPS Precinct where he was detained and locked up.

Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole commended the officers for their swift response in addressing the proliferation of unlicensed firearms in the District. Sithole encouraged the community and urged them to continue to work together with the police to fight crime.

Cops get their hands dirty cleaning Katlehong North Police Station
It was all hands on deck when the station commander at the Katlehong SAPS, Brigadier Albertina Vesi, led her team in a clean-up operation to spruce up the precinct and get it ready for the festive season.

The cleaning initiative was supported by her management and members who felt proud to be led by their leader in keeping the precinct clean. Vesi thanked all those involved for their support.
