Katlehong SAPS, CPF, and community unite to fight festive season crime
Katlehong gears up for a safer festive season with SAPS, CPF, and community efforts against crime.
The operational commander of the Katlehong SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Ephraim Shezi and CPF executives gathered at Kabelo Primary School (Sector One), together with other entities, including faith-based organisations and anti-crime groups like Yizo Yizo, to find ways to curb crime as we approach Christmas.
Also present were members of the local community who came in large numbers and contributed to the gathering by raising pertinent questions about issues of crime in their neighbourhoods.
Shezi welcomed their concerns and encouraged them to raise questions that would help them find solutions in areas where they need clarity.
The residents said they were delighted by the response given to them by Shezi.
Many said their major concerns are local drug lords who operate within the community.
At the end of the gathering, the attendees agreed that all sectors within the communities should intensify their patrols and revert back to establishing street committees in an effort to ease pressure on the local CPF office.
Katlehong SAPS media spokesperson Sivenkosi Mtwa added that the police are issuing an alert to the members of stokvels to be vigilant when sharing their year-end yields.
“The police are advising members of stokvel associations to share their stokvel money through bank accounts.”
The spokeperson added that information about pension or RAF pay-outs shouldn’t be shared with anyone.
