Among the standout performers were Germiston Lake’s very own sprint sensations, Theo Dreyer and Helen Jansen van Vuuren, who both represented the Victoria Lake Canoe Club with pride and power.

“I enjoyed my first year in the U23 age category at National Sprints 2025 at Roodeplaat Dam. It was great to achieve gold medals in the K2 500m and K2 200m, and a bronze in the K2 1km with my crew mate Tyde Malherbe. I’m grateful to be able to train, race hard, and place first overall.
“My goals continue to focus on academics at Wits University and training hard in a sport I love,” said Dreyer.
In the U23 women’s category, Helen Jansen van Vuuren impressed with consistent performances across multiple events including the 200m, 500m, doubles, and long-distance races.
