“Surprisingly, I did very well, and I’d love to do it again,” she said.

The masterclass focused on helping actors use the techniques of realism and naturalism to enhance character authenticity. Moshesh also emphasised the importance of understanding the business side of the arts.

“Ekurhuleni has a lot of talent. I lived in Katlehong for my first 18 years; this is where my love for acting began,” she said.

She stressed the need to take art seriously as a profession, “It’s important to start taking the arts as a business. This is often called show-business, and we need to master the business side; something Dr John Nkani taught me.”

She also offered encouragement to young performers, “I love the energy young people bring. They must not give up. They must follow their passion, invest in it and put in the work and hours.”

Attendee Mandla Namo, also known as ‘Ignition Namo’, highlighted the value of research in acting.
