Two Germiston SAPS officers promoted to new ranks

Warrant Officers Billy Ncala and Vusimuzi Sithole were officially promoted during a parade at Germiston SAPS, where their dedication, professionalism and years of service were recognised.

Warrant Officer Billy Ncala and Vusimuzi Sithole were welcomed into their new SAPS ranks following their recent promotions.

Their ranks were officially conferred during a parade, during which their insignia were placed by their station commander, Brigadier Nonhlahla Shezi.

The officers were formally welcomed and recognised for their achievement.

Shezi said the two officers have demonstrated loyalty and dedication to the police force through many years of service.

Germiston officers received their new Warrant Officer badges.

She added that they have worked hard, displayed professionalism, and continue to commit themselves to serving under the blue uniform.

Ncala and Sithole will continue their duties at the Community Service Centre, working across different shifts. Reaffirming their commitment, the officers said they remain dedicated to protecting and serving the community.

Warrant Officers Sithole and Ncala both started their service at Germiston SAPS in 2024, Sithole in September and Ncala in February, having joined the SAPS on the same day as student constables.

Since then, they have progressed through the ranks concurrently.

Ncala holds several accolades similar to Sithole’s, including the 10 years service medal, the 2010 World Cup medal, the SAPS centenary medal, and multiple certificates recognising his individual achievements.

Sithole began his career at KwaMashu SAPS as a student constable, serving for nearly a decade before transferring to Newcastle and Kingsley SAPS. In 2019, he joined Primrose SAPS, and in 2024, he took a “leap of faith” to move to Germiston SAPS.

Reflecting on his career, Sithole shared: “My mother told me early in the job that if you’re working at the front desk and, by the end of the day, you don’t have a single person saying thank you, it means you weren’t really at work.

From then, I understood that we need to understand people’s needs and serve the community.”

Their shift commander expressed his excitement, saying he is thrilled to officially welcome both officers to their new ranks.
