Phillip Crouse, from the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club, made 45 runs during his time at the crease during the club’s Sunday Promotion League match against Wattville Cricket Club, last weekend.
“Last weekend the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club closed off the season in a fantastic way,” said Martiens Grobler, on behalf of the club.
The club ended their Easterns Cricket League campaign with a win in both the Sunday Promotion League and Sunday Directors League matches.
In their Sunday Promotion League match the Eagles faced Wattville Cricket Club at their main oval in Dinwiddie.
Wattville arrived late and were, therefore, limited to 31 overs instead of the normal 50.
The home team won the toss and elected to bat first knocking up and impressive 319 runs, for nine wickets, in their 50 allotted overs.
The day’s top batsmen were Renier Wiesener with 97 runs, Phillip Crouse with 45 runs and Jeandre Schultz with 42 runs.
The visitors then took their turn at the crease.
They were bowled out for 115 runs, all out, in their 31 overs.
This gave the Eagles a 204-run victory.

The match’s top bowlers were Jacques Jansen van Vuuren with five wickets in 10 overs for 44 runs, JD Schulz with three wickets in seven overs for 43 runs and Bryan Mitchell with one wicket in five overs for 21 runs.
In their Sunday Directors League match, the club faced Katlehong Cricket Club, at the Elspark Sports Club.
Katlehong batted first and were only able to set a target of 96 runs in their 50 allotted overs.
The match’s top bowlers were Theuns Herbst with six wickets in 10 overs for 38 runs, and Johan van Greunen with two wickets in five overs for 17 runs.
The Eagles then took their turn at the crease and knocked up 97 runs for seven wickets in their 50 allotted overs.
This gave the home team a three-wicket victory.
The day’s top batsmen were van Greunen with 29 runs and Frank Williams with 29 runs.
