Ncube is the coach and founder of Burning Stars FC.
It is almost every soccer player’s dream to be a professional player one day and make a name for themselves in the sport.
When Ncube’s dreams of pro player did not materialise, he turned to coaching to help others to further their dreams.
“I had a vision to promote young people to reach the pinnacles I couldn’t reach,” said Ncube.
“Soccer not only builds the physicality of the individual but it prepares them to be mentally fit and healthy. It also helps these youngsters with their level of concentration and focus in academics.”
Though his mission is clear, he and his team continue to face funding obstacles.

This Primrose-based football club is playing at the Germiston Local Football Association and placed 12th on the log at the time of GCN’s interview.
“Our biggest challenge is transport. We lose points on games we couldn’t pitch up to play and our league fixtures dictate we play at Vosloorus and other areas we can’t get to because of lack of funds for transport,” explained Ncube.
He said sometimes the players donate their pocket money to enable them to travel to games.
Burning Stars compromises of all divisions, u-13 to open. It also boasts a women’s team.
Burning Stars assistant coach, Ntandoyakhe Sibanda, said he is pleased to have started his coaching career under the supervision of coach Ncube.
“All the teams in the area know who he is. His team has done so well in the past but due to lack of funds players end up leaving to go to other rival teams,” said Sibanda.
The two coaches urged the community to help them with transport.
In 2013 the club won the Germiston Local Football Association League in the u-13 and u-19 divisions.
