Vosloorus club awards dedicated players
After winning the 2022 Vosloorus Local Football Association’s junior league in all divisions, Overflow FC joined the Ekurhuleni Regional League for a competitive league.
Overflow FC recently held an awards ceremony to celebrate and honour players in its junior divisions at the Zion Apostolic Church, Sotho Section, Vosloorus, on December 2.
The club competes in the Vosloorus Local Football Association (VLFA) Junior League in the U11 and U13 divisions and the U15 and U17 in the Ekurhuleni Regional League (ERL).
Players were honoured with certificates of appreciation, and some of the best players received special awards during the ceremony.
According to the coach, Thato Matebese, after winning the VLFA league with all divisions, they opted to join the regional league.
“The regional league was very competitive; we witnessed good football every week. Our U15s obtained a second position in stream A and our U17 team came fourth. Being in the top eight is an achievement for us, given that we are newcomers in the regional league,” said Matebese.
He said challenges are part of their journey, however, parents should continue to support the team to finish the season.
“Travelling around was a great experience, and playing against different teams was a good challenge. We look forward to the next season. Hopefully, we win and qualify to play in the Gauteng Development Promotional League.”
“We had a good season. We are proud that our U11 and U13 teams have won the league again,” he concluded.
