Texas live in SA – this weekend

Come and enjoy a day out with Scottish super stars Texas.

After months of anticipation, the wait is over – Texas will be live in Johannesburg this weekend.

Those lucky enough to already have their tickets for this Sunday’s show to see the Scottish alternative pop/rock band at the Montecasino outdoor event area are in for a treat as the band is joined on stage by several phenomenal supporting acts.

These acts include UK singer-songwriter Emily Capell whose songs tell stories of celebrity lust, musical influences and general adolescence.

Capell, whose musical stylings draw from a pool deep and wide, is affectionately described as sounding like the adopted daughter of Jamie T and Billy Bragg and a distant relative of The Clash and The Libertines.

South African bands on the bill include Monark, who since hitting the South African music scene in May 2013 with Smiling has changed the landscape of pop and rock music in the country.

The four-piece band delivers an energetic and polished live performance that is incredibly well received by fans across the country.

Monark has received numerous nominations, including a SAMA for Best Pop Album and Record of the Year.

Local sensation Henry Ate will also be live on stage this Sunday.

The band spent much of the late 90s and 2000s releasing chart-topping albums, touring the world and performing alongside legends like Skunk Anansie.

Performing together for the first time since 2006, frontwoman Karma and a series of well-known session musicians promise to deliver an unforgettable set featuring hits like Just, Hey Mister, Henry, Eudaimonia, One Day Soon, Life, And And And and many more.

Attendees will also be treated to amazing food and drinks thanks to the beer gardens and gourmet food trucks.

Parents are reminded that children under 12 are allowed into the event for free with the outdoor event area offering a children’s’ area to complete the family festival vibe.

Tickets to the event are still available.
