Local family goes head to head with Midrand family in Family Feud Africa

Who is going to win the jackpot this Sunday?

South African audiences are loving the local version of Family Feud and there is no shortage of laughs on this week’s show, which airs on eTV on April 19 as Steve Harvey continues his South African educational journey.

Family Feud host Harvey was taken by surprise when the Mafokwane family, aka The Wolf Pack, howled like wolves during their family introduction.

Although Harvey made fun of them, they had laughs at his expense as he battled to pronounce some of the contestants’ names, calling Thabiso, who works in the food industry, Thabisco.

The South African accent also bamboozled Harvey when he thought the Mabitsela family were referring to pasta when they were actually saying pastor.

The Mafokwane family, aka The Wolf Pack, come from Midrand. Steve Harvey (centre) is the host of the show.

Meet this week’s competing families:

From Germiston: The Mabitsela cousins

• Team captain Tumelo is a final-year psychology student who loves cooking and baking.

• Third-year education student Thato claims to be a child whisperer and an undercover hairstylist.

• Also a third-year student, Reabetswe is studying IT, loves house music and is a budding braai master.

• Passionate about singing, Kgaugelo is a retail support officer.

• Final-year logistics management student Matome enjoys cooking shows and playing soccer.

From Midrand: The Mafokwane siblings

• Team captain Sherol works in technical support at an investment company. She is also a part-time radio sports presenter and plays netball and cricket.

• Sherol’s twin sister, Sheryl, is a finance controller who enjoys cooking and calories.

• Transmission technician Mali loves rock climbing and heights.

• Lesedi is studying to become a pilot and loves music and writing.

• Thabiso, who calls himself the gentle giant, works in the food manufacturing industry. He enjoys playing video games and is a low-key petrol head.

Hosted by entertainer, businessman and philanthropist Harvey, the game show calls on two families in each episode to compete in naming the most popular responses to gathered survey questions in order to win cash and prizes.

The game consists of five rounds and each correctly guessed answer is worth a number of points.

When a team fails to answer a question, they receive a strike and after three strikes the opposing family has the chance to “steal” the points on the board.

At the end of round five, the losing family takes their haul home and the other family goes on to play Fast Money in a bid to win the jackpot.

Who will win the jackpot?

Watch the Mafokwane and Mabitsela families take each other on in Family Feud Africa at 6pm on eTV this Sunday.
