Alrode South’s local manufacturer Derbigum Manufacturing recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The company, which has successfully created employment for 55 employees, has grown from strength to strength over the years.

It was established in 1981, specialising in the production of high-quality A-Tactic Polypropylene (APP) modified membranes and allied waterproofing products and systems.

According to the company’s general manager, David Adams, reaching this milestone meant continuing to produce good quality products.

“Throughout the years, we have locally produced a wide range of dual reinforced and single reinforced products to suit situations for our specific climatic conditions. Our waterproofing centre supplies all the allied products required for a full specification,” said Adams.

They have partnered with numerous companies to ensure that they distribute nationally, and as far as Malawi and other neighbouring African countries.

Adams was confident that the future looks bright for the company and that they are fully prepared for challenges that may come with the business.

“We have strategies in place which will allow us to expand as a business and we are also keeping up with any challenges. One of the challenges we have experienced is the importation of finished goods and having similar-looking products. However, the performance is not equal,” he said.

Since their inception, together in partnership with nationwide waterproofing centres, they continue to maintain their good reputation.

Adams thanked the support received from their staff, clients and the community.
