Norkem Park SAPS arrests suspected drug dealer
The suspect is facing charges of pointing a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
Officers from Norkem Park Police Station were patrolling Edleen on September 18 when they spotted a suspicious-looking silver Chevrolet.
It is alleged that a male driver was alone inside the vehicle at the MBT garage.
Sgt Barbara Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park Police Station, explained that as soon as the officers approached the man, he sped away, which led to a high-speed chase.

“The driver then collided with a lamp pole in Soutpansberg Drive. He jumped out of the car and ran; police members gave chase. The suspect turned around and pointed a firearm at one of the police officers. A shot was fired by the officers and the suspect was wounded in his left leg,” explained Ferreira.
The suspect was transported by ambulance to Thembisa Hospital.
On further investigation, officers found 207g of dagga inside his vehicle.
Ferreira added the suspect will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges of pointing a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
