Watch: Elephant saves hippos from wild dog pack
Not even wild dogs are brave enough to stand their ground against a charging elephant.
An elephant stepped in to help two hippos that were under attack from 10 wild dogs.
The interaction, which happened in front of andBeyond Travel’s Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp in Botswana, was filmed by guide Moses Lebitla and shared with Latest Sightings.
A wild dog pack separated a hippo from its family and quickly formed a circle, nipping at it. The hippo eventually found a gap and ran towards its friend for support.
While this was playing out, a herd of elephants arrived looking for a drink, and one of them charged the wild dogs. Luckily for the hippo, the wild dogs then abandoned the hunt.
