Another tornado touchdown in Duduza

DUDUZA - Duduza was struck by another tornado last night - although with less intensity as the F2 tornado which killed a young boy and left a trail of devastation in October four years ago.

Some 65% of the South African tornadoes are classified as F0 or F1 (light damage), while more than 90% are classified as F0, F1 or F2 (considerable damage) or less. The tornado that occurred around 20:00 last night (November 9), is non-officially regarded as F0.

Damage to the newly built Duduza Fire Station is estimated at millions. Most of the damage however, was caused by a tent that was erected last week, especially for the inauguration ceremony on November 5. Six cars belonging to Emergency Services Fire Fighters were also damaged.
