However, he still needs to undergo surgery to have the titanium plate in his jaw removed and will be tested regularly to monitor whether the cancer has spread to other parts of his body.

According to his parents, doctors are not yet sure exactly when the operation will take place, as blood tests next week will determine whether his immune system is strong enough for such an operation. If not, there is a high risk of infection which may have complications that could affect his health negatively.
The family has been faced with financial hardship throughout Kyle’s illness, but they still battle, as both parents are still unemployed.

Kyle will be attending school for the first time in two years in July, and needs school clothes and stationery. He is also placed on a strict diet by his doctor, which requires specific nutrition that comes at a high cost.

“We are grateful for all the help that we received from the community up to this point, but there is still a long road ahead for Kyle until full recovery,” Ivan Segeel said.
