Saturday night madness – two bike accidents in Heidelberg
Cyclist and biker lucky to escape with their lives
In two separate incidents, a cyclist and motorcyclist are lucky to have escaped with their lives when they were involved in accidents on Saturday night.
The first accident happened at around 19:00 on the corner of Graham Avenue and Maré Street when a cyclist went straight over a stop street right in front of a vehicle turning into Graham Avenue. Members of Heidelberg Volunteer Medics were first on the scene and assisted the injured man while waiting on the provincial ambulance. According to Elzona Meyer, the man sustained soft tissue and hip injuries.
The driver of the vehicle said the cyclist came out of now where and drove straight into his car. The impact threw him over the vehicle and he landed in the middle of the street.
The injured man was taken to Heidelberg Hospital.
A few minutes later, a delivery man of Debonairs Pizza was struck by a vehicle in Meyer Street. His was very shocked and distraught, but not seriously injured.
