Dumped CVs discovered behind fuel depot

EFF Slams lost job opportunities

HEIDELBERG – Hundreds if not thousands of CVs were discovered behind Transnet’s fuel depot in Jameson Park.

While the exact date this discovery was made is yet to be established, HERAUT has been reliably informed that the pile of papers in the pictures that were supplied by a source who wishes to remain anonymous, consisted almost entirely of documents relating to job applications at the plant.

The pictures raise many questions relating to the route which was followed when certain appointments at the depot were made.

Residents have complained that labourers were being bussed in from KwaZulu Natal – in contrast to job creation promises that were made prior to the start of the multi billion rand project.

“These CVs represent the hopes of many people who struggled to get a confirmation letter from their ward councillors which was a requisite before they could apply for work at Group 5,” Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Lesedi sub-regional coordinator Isaac Khithika said in a statement.

Khithika added that the EFF was disappointed that there are so many residents who might still be waiting to be called for interviews yet their CVs have been dumped.

“Many community members have raised concerns about interference by Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) and have since insisted that recruitment should be done through a community liaison officer and not through councillors because that is when favouritism becomes the order of the day.”

HERAUT would hereby like to invite Transnet and LLM to comment on this discovery.
