Hundreds join SANCO’s service delivery march in Heidelberg

‘Lerato must fall’ slogans seems to be the order of the day.

Hundreds of fed up residents joined SANCO’s service delivery march this morning. Early in the morning people were prevented from going to work by protesters who blocked all entrances to and from Ratanda with burning tyres.

A big police presence were notable when the march started in various spots in Ratanda and moved to the municipal offices in Heidelberg.

Various posters shouted out the message of angry and disgruntled citizens: ‘Stop blocking electricity’, ‘Lerato must fall’, Radical economic transformation now!’, ‘Nepotism, corruption, unemployment will fall’ and ‘We want RDP houses’.

The crowd started booing when the mayor Lerato Maloka appeared. In contrast with this, the speaker Mr Ronald Nkosi’s appearance received cheering from the people.
