Teenager raped at Ratanda Hostel – suspect still at large
Police have opened a rape case after a 14-year-old girl was raped by a man at Ratanda Hostel on April 28 (Saturday night).

“It is alleged that the victim and her friends were asked to go to Ratanda Hostel for some drinks. When the girls arrived, they were given liquor. During the visit, one of the boys locked the door and removed the keys. The girls pleaded to go home but exit was refused,” SAPS spokesman Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate said.
Police reported that the girls managed to escape through a window, whereafter the suspect with his two friends chased them. The victim’s friends managed to get away, but she was caught. She was brought back into the room where she was allegedly raped. The suspect is known by the victim.
No suspects have been arrested.
Acting station commander – Captain Dookhi – pleads with hostel dwellers and members of the community to provide information on the whereabouts of the suspect.
He assured that all information will be treated as confidential.
