Devon SAPS arrested and detained a man in connection with the rape and assault of a 56-year-old woman.
The victim reported to the local SAPS that she was raped by her 52-year-old partner.
She was at a local beer hall when her partner came in and insisted they go home. Upon arrival at their residence, the man reportedly shouted at the victim, grabbed her by her clothes and began assaulting her.
He then allegedly stabbed her with a broken beer bottle.
The man pushed the victim to the floor and, despite her pleas for him to stop, proceeded to rape her. When she tried to scream, she was told that no one would hear her.
The victim sustained visible injuries from the stabbing and assault.
The man was arrested and detained on February 20 and will be appearing in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on charges of rape and assault.
