A 59-year-old man was arrested for possession of stolen property after an unlawful transformer repair warehouse was discovered along Marconi Street in the Heidelberg industrial area last Thursday evening.
SAPS was informed of the warehouse where it was suspected that unlawful activities took place.
A crime intelligence-driven operation was planned by the Sedibeng district commissioner Maj Gen Zodwa Ettie Molefe to investigate the allegations.
A man was arrested for possession of the stolen property after Eskom investigators identified their transformers.
They indicated they do not have any deal, tender or permission with the owner to store or repair their transformers.
Eskom identified 27 transformers from the warehouse valued at R2.2-million.
Police are still engaging with other entities to identify the stolen transformers.
The arrested man will appear in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
