SAPS requests assistance in identifying body

The police opened an inquest docket after an unidentified body was found dumped along the R103 in the Rooikraal farming area on Saturday.

A man picking up plastic containers discovered a body wrapped in a white mielie meal bag on Saturday morning.

The discovery was made along the R103 in the Rooikraal farming area.

Upon closer inspection the man noticed human legs protruding from the bag, which was tied with computer cables and electric wires.

The man contacted the police and emergency medical services.

The body was already in a decomposed state and officials were unable to verify whether the deceased is male or female.

An inquest docket has been opened and police are appealing to anyone with information about a missing person in their family or their residential areas to come forward.

Police are further requesting information regarding the deceased and the circumstances that may have led to the death.
