A suspect was later arrested by members of the JMPD and Nigel detectives after receiving a tip-off from the community.

It was learned that the man is visiting from the Eastern Cape. The motive of the shooting is still unknown.
Two cartridges were collected from the scene by the police, although the firearm has not yet been recovered.
