Multi-disciplinary roadblock conducted

The roadblock took place along the N3 freeway on Monday.

HEIDELBERG – Joint law-enforcement agencies converged along the N3 freeway in Heidelberg at the Weighbridge at noon on Monday to conduct a multi-disciplinary roadblock.

The objective of the roadblock was to conduct visible policing, monitor the free flow of motor vehicles, ensure the enforcement of national road traffic regulations, check compliance with Covid-19 regulations by motorists and passengers and reduce the transportation of illegal firearms and ammunition, as well as drugs.

During the roadblock, 1 100 people were searched, while 550 motor vehicles were searched.

Traffic officers issued three fines for non-compliance with the NRT regulations with an estimated value of R1 800.
In total, 56 motor vehicles were also tested.
