Heidelberg Methodist Church welcomes new minister
Lambaatjeen hopes to build longstanding relationships with the community and other religious groups.
HEIDELBERG – The Heidelberg Methodist Church welcomed its new minister, who led his first sermon in the church on April 18, to the congregation this week.
Michael Lambaatjeen (49) and his family moved to Heidelberg in December from their previous congregation in Grassy Park, Cape Town.
“I am excited about my journey with the community and the congregation,” Lambaatjeen told the HERAUT.
“There is a strong sense of welcome in the community for which my family and I are very thankful.
“I am also very excited about getting to know the content and the challenges in the community, to build lasting relationships and to find ways to work with other religious groups in the community.
“My dream for Heidelberg Methodist Church is that we would become a church after God’s own heart.
“I believe that we are called to be a relevant Christ-centred community.
“My hope is that we can create a community where everyone is welcome to enter and that no one will be excluded.
“I am deeply grateful to the church for this opportunity to serve the community as a minister,” Lambaatjeen concluded.
