I am a daughter of the Nigel community and the founder of an organisation called Sparkle which specialises in empowering young girls through various in-house programmes and outsourced support.
I am a self-employed professional specialising in commercial and industrial cleaning. Prior to being self-employed, I worked in the private sector for 15 years, fulfilling various roles in the telecommunication, finance and insurance industries.
I matriculated from Alra Park Secondary and I’m currently studying towards a Business Management degree and a Theology diploma.
Ward 88 has been plagued by many ills, which has worsened over the years. As a mother and a member of this community, I cannot allow myself to be idle amid this, more so when witnessing the development that’s taking place in neighbouring wards and towns.
Two reasons underpin my decision to serve as a councillor:
• The absence of our current counsellor and his obliviousness of the realities we are faced with as Greater Nigel.
• The absence of my generation in securing a better future not only for ourselves but for the next generation of Nigel residence alongside restoring the dignity of Greater Nigel, something our elders in this community worked hard to build and maintain.
The former I attribute to the inherent lack of ownership and availability to the residents of Ward 88 and the latter the fear of failure.
To serve this community will be a time and skill intensive exercise, requirements I possess and would be honoured to utilise for our development.
Ward councillor candidates were invited to submit photographs and write-ups. Some candidates had not submitted information as requested.
