Wollaston Labuschagne

Wollaston Labuschagne, DA, Ward 88

I am standing as a ward councillor because I have the necessary knowledge and experience to improve service delivery in my ward. I also believe that all residents should receive the best possible services and no community should be neglected.

During the current political term, I have uncovered the following issues:

• Numerous municipal flats are vacant because the ANC and its coalition partners do not care about the homeless.

• ANC cadres have allowed an individual to start farming activities around the Nigel Dam without the required processes to be followed.

• Two appointed contractors for infrastructure projects were paid between R1-million and R3-m without completing projects they were appointed on.

During the next term, I plan on driving the following pressing issues:

• The rehabilitation and fencing of Alra Park wetland A21F including the area across Alra Park Clinic to be developed as a public park.

• Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the entire Nigel stormwater canal from the R42 through Nigel until it reaches the Blesbokspruit

• Completion of all maintenance and refurbishment work on the interior and exterior of the Nigel Town Hall specifically all required work to the roof, gutters, and downpipes

• Tarring of various unsurfaced roads in Alra Park, Mackenzieville and Visagie Park

• Rehabilitation and upgrade of John Vorster Sports Stadium.

Ward councillor candidates were invited to submit photographs and write-ups. Some candidates had not submitted information as requested.
