Cambridge lose match by one goal

The Cambridge team lost their third match in the SAB league.

Cambridge FC played their third league match in the SAB League on October 6.

The team faced Amazababa FC at the Tsakani Stadium.

“The match was a very tight affair, as both teams are very strong and disciplined,” said coach Ignatius Maphike.

“During the first half of the match, the game was played mainly in the middle of the field and both teams played a similar formation.

The team warmed up on the field before the match.

“Cambridge played good-quality football, despite being away from home and dominated the ballgame with neat passes.”

The first half of the match ended with no goals.

During the second half, however, both teams opened up to more attack-based gameplay and created a lot of scoring opportunities because of this.

The keepers worked hard to defend their goal zones.

“Late into the second half, we lost our concentration and created an opportunity for the other team to score,” said Maphike.

“Amazababa was able to take the lead because of this.”

The Cambridge team will work harder to win their next match.

The Cambridge team pushed to try and equalise the score but failed to convert any of their opportunities into goals.

“We have a lot of positives to take away from this match,” said Maphike.

“The team needs to know that life in this league is different,” said head coach Godfrey Hermanus.

“If you don’t take chances you will end up losing.

“But the boys showed heart and character and we will go back and work harder for our next match.”
