Cambridge secures another win

The Cambridge team won the match against the Amazababa team from Tsakani.

Cambridge FC won another match in the SAB League when they faced Amazababa FC from Tsakani on February 19.

“It was a thrilling and entertaining match,” said Ignatius Maphike.

“We played at the Jim Fouché Stadium.”

The home team struggled to settle into the opening stages of the match. The Amazababa team scored five minutes into the first half.

Fifteen minutes into the first half, and after two changes to the players, Cambridge striker Monahang Chuku Moeketsie put his team on the board and equalled the score to 1-1.

Motivated by the success of their first goal, the Cambridge team pushed harder and Lucky Ndlovu scored the team’s second goal.

During the second half of the match, the Amazababa team scored again, making the score 2-2, with 15 minutes left of the match.

New Cambridge player Wayne Matle, a former Kaizer Chiefs and Rebels player, took a penalty shot for his team and scored, ending the match 3-2 for the home team.

“We would like to thank the community for coming out to support us,” Maphike, who has also been selected as the team’s new chairperson, said.

“The boys showed heart and character, making the fans happy,” said head coach Godfrey Hermanus.
