Cambridge FC beat Reiger Park Juventus FC 2-1 on February 26 at the Jim Fouché Stadium.
“We had a slow start to the game again. This led to our players conceding a goal to Juventus only 10 minutes into the match,” said Cambridge coach Ignatius Maphike.
“Our players woke up after the goal and were able to put together some good combination plays.”
The home team had good support from the community, driving them to deliver their best plays.
Fanky Pogpa Kodisang put the ball into the net for Cambridge.
“It was a well-worked goal with good team play,” Maphike said.
The first half of the match ended with the score tied at 1-1.
Cambridge took the lead in the second half, following substitutions coming on.
Maphike said that the fresh legs on the pitch created a series of goalscoring opportunities that was not converted.
“I am happy with the three points,” said Cambridge head coach Godfrey Hermanus.
“We will work on the finishing touches during training and prepare for the tough upcoming matches.”
