Hijacking victims rescued

Tsakani SAPS members rescued the victim from the boot of his vehicle.

In a small-scale crime-prevention operation on March 26, a Hyundai i20 vehicle was stopped as part of a routine stop-and-search operation on Malandela Road.

During the search of the vehicle, police found and rescued a hijacking victim from Heidelberg in the vehicle’s boot.

In a similar incident, detectives from Tsakani made a breakthrough when a suspect linked to another hijacking of a Nissan Almera in the area was arrested.

Another suspect was arrested in Langaville when a hijacked BMW 3 Series was abandoned by criminals and the owner of the vehicle was also rescued from inside the boot of his vehicle.

A third suspect was arrested when, during a joint operation by Tsakani police and the EMPD, he was found driving a hijacked Toyota Corolla.

Tsakani SAPS station commander Col Khumbulani Mbatha commended members for their hard work that resulted in the arrests.
