Two suspected burglars arrested

Co-operation between SAPS and security officers leads to arrests.

On May 26 crime prevention members Sergeant Vusimuzi Zondo and Constable JP Lewis received a complaint of two suspicious-looking men loitering in Heidelberg and climbing over walls.

The two SAPS members responded to an address on Du Preez Street.

The suspects ran away and damaged an electric fence in an attempt to get away from law enforcement.

Jason van Jaarsveld of Silver Security assisted in the search and helped with the arrest of the suspects in Hospital Street, Heidelberg.

The SAPS found remote controls, gloves and keys in the suspects’ possession.

Further investigation revealed the suspects broke into premises in Pretorius Street where the remotes were taken.

The suspects were charged with burglary as well as an attempted burglary.

Furthermore, one of the suspects is currently on parole on previous robbery charges.

The suspects are due to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrates Court soon.
