Man arrested following high-density operation

The man was arrested when he was searched and found to have illicit substances in his possession.

On June 24, the EMPD First Responder Unit, members of Nigel SAPS and the local SAPS Crime Prevention operation arrested a man and seized a variety of narcotics.

The arrest was made as part of a high-density operation in the area.

EMPD officers searched the man, a Nigerian national, opposite a well-known tavern while on foot patrol.

The arrested had 17 packets of crystal meth, rocks and nyaope in his possession among other substances.

He had 17 packets of crystal meth, rocks, packets of nyaope and two half-brown packets, R2 700, in his possession.

The arrested suspect is facing charges for possession of illicit substances and will appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
