APCOC hosts Gatsby event
The Alra Park Can Over Come (APCOC) NPO hosted the Gatsby event as part of Women's month.
The Alra Park Can Over Come (APCOC) cancer support group held a Gatsby event for Women’s Month on August 13.
The masters of ceremony, Jennifer Kenny (treasurer), Esme Segeel (president) and Sarah Morris (chairperson), delivered a motivational message to start off the event.
Jezel Esbend (secretary) handed out the first prize present to Naiemah Isaacs for the best-dressed lady.
“We would like to firstly thank our Heavenly Father for making this event possible,” Esbend said.
“For the determination, health, willingness He gives and for putting His guiding, helping and protective hand on each and every one of us.”
A group of local children also took part in the event by helping to serve the guests and helping to hand out goodie bags.
Various motivational speakers took part in the day, speaking words of encouragement and helping to reduce some of the stigma around cancer.
“We would also like to thank the community at large for all their support, as well as each sponsor that contributed to make this event a big success,” Esbend said.
“We really thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
“The day was a great success,” Esbend concluded. “Thank you to each APCOC member who sold tickets and worked so hard to make this event so special and successful.”
