The plaque is number 56 in the series of plaques for heritage status.
The name was given to the property because the house has a veranda nearly around the house. The verandas were also quite wide.
The property is located at 73 Pretorius Street, Heidelberg. It initially had rough sandstone foundations with wide cavity walls and quite high ceilings.
It is assumed that the front section of the house was built around 1890. A makeover and extra editions to the house were made in the 1920s.
Metal-pressed ceilings and modern wooden window frames were installed. Another edition was part of the wide veranda.
The sponsor is Veronica Olivier Art. The owner has been staying in the house for 11 years already.
It is reported that the street blocks in the area were at one time demarcated to mining during the gold rush period.
