Woman murdered, domestic worker tied up
The domestic worker was hit over the head by a heavy object and tied up.
A 62-year-old woman was murdered on October 10 in her house in Mackenzieville.
A domestic worker at the residence told Nigel SAPS that she arrived at the house that morning as usual when she found an unknown woman at her employers’ gate.
The woman told the domestic worker that she was instructed by the owner of the house to help clean the residence.
The woman was wearing a purple shirt and a cowboy hat.
According to Nigel SAPS communications officer Sergeant Neliswa Dwaba, both the domestic worker and the woman waited for the remote-controlled gate to open.
When the gate was open, the two women entered the premises and separated upon entering the house.
The domestic worker told police she carried on with her daily tasks.
She then heard footsteps behind her and noticed an unknown man dressed in a long-sleeved white shirt. The man then hit the domestic worker over her head with a heavy object.
When the domestic worker regained consciousness after some time, her hands and feet had been tied.
She shouted for help and neighbours contacted the neighbourhood watch when they heard the commotion.

Upon their arrival, members of the neighbourhood watch discovered the body of the 62-year-old woman lying face down in the hallway of the house. Her hands and feet had also been tied up with plastic straps and her mouth and nose covered with a dishcloth.
The deceased had severe blunt force trauma on the right side of her head, her eye and both knees.
Both the deceased and domestic worker’s phones were missing from the scene.
No arrests have been made yet and the perpetrators remain unknown.
Any person who has information that could lead to an arrest is urged to contact the Nigel SAPS on 011 814 6503 or make use of the MySAPS app.
