Reaction officer gunned down
Msusa died on the scene after confronting the armed robbers.
Siyabulela Msusa (41) lost his life in the early hours of June 26 during an armed robbery at the Sasol Garage in Springs Street, Nigel.
Msusa, a reaction officer for Crime Stop Security Services responded to a panic alarm at the garage around 01:00.
According to information, a group of armed robbers entered the premises around midnight.
Upon his arrival on the scene, Msusa confronted the robbers and was shot.
Msusa was declared dead on the scene.
After the robbers shot Msusa, they tried and failed to blow up the safe on the premises.
They managed to steal cash from the register along with cigarettes before fleeing the scene.
“Siyabulela was a family man,” said a member of Crime Stop Security Services, who wished to remain anonymous.
“He was always friendly and willing to help and ready to do what needed to be done.
“He was like our family and we will miss him dearly.”
Msusa leaves behind his wife and three children.
